The track was a sample of DeBarge's 1983 single Stay with Me on her debut single Foolish. Ashanti released her self-titled debut album in 2002. It was released through Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. label. The Declaration her fourth studio album, was released on June 3, 2008. Hey Baby was released for the radio and online on 16 October 2009. The singer was as a character in The Christmas in the City film and also played Latasha as Latasha in Army Wives. Her track Rock wit U was sampled by British singer Aitch to accompany his track Baby on March 10 2022.
